Okay, okay, I know summer is almost over, but August is really when I feel summer in full force. Plus, it’s still 100 degrees here in California! So I wanted to squeeze in one more summer collection, and I’ve made it all about the abundant, watery, full feeling of summer. Introducing: the Venusian Summer collection! Using three pastel pieces I’ve had in my collection for a few years, I was so excited to call in the spirit of Venus in creating these.
The first piece is the Birth of Venus robe, a pale pink vintage robe embroidered with a pretty blue Venus with pink hair, reminiscent of Boticelli’s Birth of Venus. Around her, pink flowers are caught in the wind, and at the bottom of the robe are larger flowers that seem to dance around your feet as well! These are just like the flowers that the Wind blows in as Venus reaches land in the famous painting. This piece took over 50 hours to create and I think it’s the perfect thing for inviting in Venus-y abundance.
Next up is the Sacred Heart of Venus Garter Belt, a vintage French belt embroidered with a blue heart on a bed of seafoam, topped with coral. Written on a scroll across the sacred heart is the name “VENVS,” inspired by Early Modern engravings of the goddess. I love how detailed this piece turned out!
The final piece is the Mermaid Secrets bra: a vintage French bra (in stunning condition) embroidered with blue mermaid tails and pearly seafoamy beads. This piece captures how I feel every summer: I just want to swim in secret caves and feel very dreamy.
